• If you get a hand of 15 against a 10-value upcard of the dealer, or a 16 which can't be split (not a pair of 8's) against 9, 10-value card or an ace in the dealers' hand - surrender if you're allowed to.

• Take insurance only if you're counting cards.

• A split of two 10-value cards is considered a bad move, as well as splitting 4's and 5's.

• No matter what the dealers' up card is, it's a good idea to split 8's and aces

• Double down only if:
  • You get a 9 and the dealers' showing card is 3-6.
  • You get a 10-value card and the dealer's card isn't 10 or an ace.
  • You get an ace (which is counted as either 1 or 11) and the dealer's upcard is not an ace.

• When you get a hard 12-16 and the dealers' upcard is 4-6, stand.

• When you get that same 12-16 and the dealer shows 2, 3 or 7+, hit.

• On soft 17 you hit, but on 17-21 you stand.

• Pairs of 8's and aces are a classic split material.

• When the dealer is showing a card of 8 or lower, double down on your 10 or 11.

• If the dealer shows 7 or lower, be sure to stand on hard 17.

• Hit until you have at least 17 against a dealers' showing card of 10.

• Against the dealers' 10, always hit a soft 17.

• Make sure to stand on soft 19 or higher.

• When you decide to stand on 17 or lower, you rely on the dealer to go over 21. If you have a soft hand, you won't go bust with a single hit, so here's a few tips from blackjack2002.com as to what you should do:
  • On a soft 13-17 against the dealers' 7+, hit.
  • When your hand contains 3+ cards, hit on a soft 13-17.
  • When your hand contain 2 cards, double down soft 13-17 against the dealers' upcard of 5 or 6.
  • Against a showing card of 3, double down on a soft 17.
  • Against a dealers' 4, double down on a soft 15-17.
  • Although many online blackjack players stand on soft 18, you might want to consider hitting when the dealers' showing card is 9, 10-value, or ace. When the upcard is 2, 7, or 8, you should stand, and double down if the dealer shows a 3-6 upcard.

• Always remember that you play not only for the fun, but also for profit, and that you can always win - don't lose hope. If you keep losing at a specific blackjack table, move to another table after 3 losses.

• Always focus on the dealer and the card that the dealer is showing. Ignore other players. If a player upsets you with his game strategy, move to another table.

• Don't drink and gamble, not even online. Drinking distracts you from focusing on the strategy of the game, and you risk losing money.

• Always set your loss limits and win goals to help retain your self-discipline.

• Don't bet more than you can afford. Rent, food money, or car payments are not things to gamble on in online blackjack tournaments.

• Before joining any game, including online blackjack, make sure you know the rules before you place your money on the table.

• Don't play when you're tired. Either quit or take a break for an hour or two.

• Most players dont even consider the rules before they sit down and play. If you dont read our blackjack guide or any of the playing stratagies of blackjack. A five-dollar blackjack game should not be your classroom.
