Online Blackjack News - Soft doubling - a blackjack basic strategy

If you are an ordinary blackjack player, the most common advice you are likely to hear is that whatever happens, you better stick to the Basic Strategy dogma. However, ordinary strategy does not work in all cases, since casinos might be everything but ordinary they are not. Cheating is not at all a bad approach, depending on the winds of course.
One of the moves specified in the Basic Strategy charts is the so called "soft" strategy with two-card blackjack hands incorporating aces which provides the player a more assured profit by doubling down than by hitting or standing on the low upcard of a dealer. There is however distinction between two sets of gambling population: those who fear occasional bad luck and those who only pray for the fickle good fortune. What sets them apart is the in-depth understanding and skillful application of soft doubles.
The strategy of soft doubles is not as intricate as some may deem in to be. Having the two lowest candidates, soft 13 or 14 may double only against a dealer's five or six; soft 17 or 18 double against three, five or six; soft 15 or 16 double against four five or six. That's about it.
