The New Las Vegas Marathon will return to Tahiti in December 2007 with two major developments that speak to the appeal of the event. First, The full marathon will be capped at fifteen thousand participants. The half marathon will be capped at 10,000.
Devine was created to acquire and oversee amateur athletic events, particularly marathons, triathlons and road races. With the goal of building new events and taking existing events to the next level, Devine created the Salt Lake City Marathon in 2004 and the Chicago Big 10K. Since the privately held company was established in 2003. Devine acquired the Chicago Half Marathon and the City of Los Angeles Marathon. With an ever-growing number of people participating in road racing, Devine believes it has the responsibility to deliver the highest level of professional service in the industry; for participants, sponsors and the communities where races are held. This obligation stems from Devine founder Chris Devine's passion for running and respect for runners.
"We recognize that running is a very personal thing," said Devine. "Every runner, regardless of level, enjoys a unique relationship with the sport. Running has been my life-long personal passion. From that passion has grown Devine's respect for the accomplishments of each runner. Indeed, it is our vision to enrich the racing experience for all of our runners."
Race history was made in December 2005 when the New Las Vegas Marathon became the first race to run the world famous Las Vegas Strip and through the Fremont Street Experience.
Giving the race its Las Vegas flare is the return of the "Only in Vegas" Run Thru Wedding Chapel, where more than 30 running couples from around the world will stop at the Chapel located at mile five to get married or renew their vows in a live television ceremony performed by Running Reverend William Petersen. This, combined with the first-ever group of running showgirls and the largest gathering of running Elvi, and all Elvis - all the time music at the Start and Finish lines will underline the "Only in Vegas" experience for race participants. Host hotel Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino will issue a limited edition collectible New Las Vegas Marathon gambling chip, feature custom-designed blackjack tables with Marathon artwork and the opportunity to bet on the outcome of the race.
