The recent study was commissioned by eCOGRA (e-Commerce Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance) and was conducted by England’s Nottingham Trent University. Over 11,000 respondents were questioned about their gambling habits and preferences. Over 40% replied that they use internet message boards for everything from the current US political and legal situation and the mathematics of gambling odds to responsible gambling, business news and game preferences.
Top internet boards have memberships in the thousands, and they offer a wide range of subjects that almost anyone can find something to interest him in. in some cases, the internet boards have gained enough recognition and power in the industry so that mediation services are at times possible, when the casino and the player have fallen into discord.
There are advantages to using online boards as a main source of information. For one thing, you can be reasonably sure that the information that you are getting has not been put there in order to advertise or draw you into spending money, but has been posted there by concerned, informed players just like yourself. In addition, you can make friends and learn from other, more experience players the ins and outs of the many games, the online casinos, and tips on how to get the most out of your gaming, as well.
On the other hand, there are also disadvantages to going to online forums. For one thing, spammers tend to flood the forums with false statements, wrong recommendations, and at other times simple advertisements. Even when consulting a seemingly valid forum, one that you can trust, you must always sift the information, so that you know that you are getting the best information and making informed decisions.
