Online Blackjack News - Atlantic City's Blackjack-Offering Casinos Back in Business after Days-Long Shutdown
New Jersey's Governor Jon Corzin recently signed a compromise state spending plan, ending a budget deadlock that shuttered Atlantic City's casinos for several days. The governor ordered the layoff of as many as 45,000 state employees, including the state gaming inspectors required by law to be present in New Jersey's 24/7 operating casinos. The move forced the gambling establishments to close, putting out of job approximately 36,000 casino workers.
Corzin was reported as saying that it was unfortunate that the budget was agreed on eight days after the July 1st deadline imposed by New Jersey Constitution. Atlantic City's gaming venues, offering blackjack, poker, roulette and other casino games, received the permission to get back to business little over an hour after lawmakers finally passed the budget.
