Online Blackjack News - Love Blackjack? Your TV Network Could Answer your Wishes this Fall
A new classic casino game is now on the rise. Despite the burgeoning popularity of poker, it appears that there are many blackjack-lovers as well. As is often the case in the business world, a demand must be properly supplied. Accordingly, it was recently reported that a group of investors is negotiating with several U.S. cable networks regarding the future debut of Ultimate Blackjack Tour (UBT), a televised blackjack tournament series, sometime this fall.
The UBT was first introduced by Russ Hamilton, the 1994 winner of the World Series of Poker and the developer of the "elimination blackjack" game. The format of "elimination blackjack" includes 30-hand games in which players with the lowest chip total after the 8th, 16th, and 25th hand are eliminated. The format also features "secret bets", a move that players make in order to bluff their opponents into increasing or decreasing their bets before heading into elimination rounds.
Hamilton co-assisted in gathering a group of investors, who invested great sums of money to film the first 10 episodes at Casino MonteLago at Lake Las Vegas. Some of the investors were reported as saying that it is the patent-pending elimination factor that will ultimately turn blackjack tournaments into television drama. Also, negotiations are currently being conducted with several Sin City casinos that could potentially host future tour events.
