Online Blackjack News - Blackjack-Playing Slave Boss Convicted of Manslaughter
A Chinese slave master operating in Britain was recently convicted of sending as many as 21 illegal Chinese immigrants to their deaths. Lin Liang Ren, 29, a former accountant who employed undocumented Chinese immigrants as cockle pickers, was found guilty of manslaughter in connection with the deaths.
The jury heard evidence that although he was repeatedly warned by locals against it, Ren sent his labourers several kilometres from the shore on February 5, 2004, to raid the lucrative cockle beds of Morecambe Bay, Lancashire. When he realized that they faced grave danger due to the rising tides, he did not lift a finger to help them. When he saw a few desperate survivors returning, he ordered them to tell rescuers that he had perished in order to escape the consequences of his negligence.
Ren denied any wrongdoing. On the eve of the Morecambe Bay tragedy, he lost $1,500 playing blackjack in a Liverpool gambling venue. Similarly, Ren thought nothing of gambling with the lives of his laborers, whom he paid only $2.50 a day. |
