Players wishing to visit Illinois casinos for a round of blackjack, poker, or other table games may have to present their driver's licenses before entering. A new plan by the Illinois Gaming Board plans to set out a new rule that requires casino patrons visiting Illinois casinos to show their driver's licenses upon arrival.
By using this carding system, it is believed that compulsive gamblers who have signed up to ban themselves from casinos, but still have a craving for blackjack and other games will be kept out. If this method is approved, driver's licenses will be swiped through machines that will verify the validity of the information printed on them. This way, compulsive gamblers on the self-ban list will be turned away, and underage gamblers wishing to try out their luck at blackjack, roulette, slots, and the like will be caught.
The potential carding plans has worried casino owners who predict that lines at casinos will be extra long and slow.
