Online Blackjack News - Second World Series of Blackjack Tournament Held at Ute Mountain Casino

The second of three preliminary blackjack tournaments was held at the Ute Mountain Casino-Hotel & Resort in Colorado last week. Many professional, as well as amateur blackjack players, attended the event for a chance to compete for a seat at the World Series of Blackjack finals in Las Vegas. This year, the World Series of Blackjack finals will be a little different, as the list of participants will not consist only of invited players as it did before, but rather, it will be comprised of winners from different qualifier tournaments being held across the U.S.
Regina “BJ Sweetie” Guzior , one of the best female blackjack players in the country, was spotted at the Ute Mountain tournament. Guzior is blind and relies on an aide to tell her what cards are on the table. When asked about her game-play, Regina remarked: “I prefer tournaments; I just love to play big using [the casino’s] money!” She also added, “I was really happy to come here and play, but this tournament threw me off some.” Guzior went on to say, “I hadn’t played the format that Ute Mountain did in years. I have been used to playing a set number of hands during the round, but at Ute Mountain it was 21 minutes of play and then five final hands. It really made me re-think my strategy.”
Even though many blackjack stars competed in the tournament, in the end, the winner of a seat in the World Series of Blackjack was a twenty-four year old amateur, Scotty of Arizona. The third and final round of the Ute Mountain Casino preliminary blackjack tournaments will be held on the 20th and 21st of January. Ute Mountain Casino offers a wide variety of casino games, though, blackjack has proved to be most popular.
