Online Blackjack News - Preliminary Blackjack Tournament Sends Winner to Play at World Series
Ute Mountain Casino Hotel & Resort recently held the first of three preliminary blackjack tournaments in which the winner of each tournament will qualify for one of forty seats in the World Series of Blackjack. Patricia M. Nicholas of Durango, Colorado, 'brought home the chips' by winning the first round of the tournament. Nicholas thus secured herself a seat at the World Series of Blackjack, which will be broadcast by GSN, the network for games.
Patricia was one of six players who competed at the final table in the blackjack tournament. At the beginning of the final table, she was in last place, but, with a few strategic moves and excellent play, she managed to climb her way to the top and win first place. Not only will Patricia get to compete for $1 million in the World Series of Blackjack, but she has already received $3,150 for winning the preliminary tournament.
Patricia, the owner of a well-known Durango quilt shop, was reported as saying, “After the first round I only had $1,800 in chips. I thought to myself: don’t throw dirt on the grave yet.” She also said, “I just had to dig in and I turned that $1,800 in chips into $16,000 to take first place. I’m so excited to be going to Las Vegas as a winner from Ute Mountain Casino. All my friends and family can’t believe that I won.”
