Online Blackjack News - RFID Gaming Chips Used At Blackjack Tables
|
|
Gaming Partners International Corp. has announced that it will supply Galaxy Resorts with 600,000 radio frequency identification (RFID) gaming chips for the Rio and Grand Waldo casinos that will be opening in Macau next year. The RFID chips will help casinos prevent the exchange of counterfeit chips, and stop cheating at blackjack and poker tables.
Over 5 million 125 KHz RFID gaming chips have been sold by Gaming Partners to 40 casinos worldwide, such as the Wynn Resort, Las Vegas. In addition, the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas tested out these chips at blackjack tables at the beginning of the year.
Ciaran Carruthers, Vice President of Casino Operations for Galaxy Resorts, said: "We have always been very impressed with the quality of the products and the levels of service provided by GPI. The introduction of RFID technology will enable Galaxy to further improve and enhance our table game operations while at the same time leaving us well placed to take full advantage of this new technology as it develops and new applications become available."
Gaming Partners inserts RFID technology into gaming chips that are worth as little as 50 cents. Readers are put into cages, and are not only effective for blackjack and poker; they can also be built into roulette tables. |
