Online Blackjack News - Falsely Accused Blackjack Card Counter Awarded $110,000 By New Frontier
A blackjack gambler has been awarded $110,000 by a Clark County District Court jury after being detained in a security office at Las Vegas' New Frontier Hotel and Casino. The gambler was falsely accused of cheating at blackjack, and according to him, he was also assaulted and battered by the New Frontier security chief and guard.
Gambler David D'Aquin was not cheating at blackjack, but rather, he was card counting, an activity that is actually legal in Nevada. According to New Frontier, D'Aquin won $4,000 after playing blackjack for about 40 minutes. Security guards approached him after he cashed in his chips, and took him to a private room. The guards claim that D'Aquin was only questioned for about ten minutes, and was in no way assaulted as he had claimed to be.
The casino also claims that D'Aquin did commit a crime by playing blackjack, and gambling at this property, as he did so by obtaining a loyalty club card and winning money under a false name. |
