Unlike the common belief that it is the winnings that make up the larger portion of the money you eventually take home, it is what you are able to save that comprise most of your possessions by the end of the blackjack night.
The basic blackjack strategy, once believed to be the optimal one, advises standing on hard 17 (when there is no Ace in your hand), disregarding the dealer’s upper card. Numerous computer simulations have altered this view. First of all, your 17 against the dealer’s 10 or Ace should be seen as a lost case to begin with. Your money is doomed to be segregated to the dealer, once he has the 10 denomination card.
Since time is money, instantly eliminate the option of winning and concentrate on how to minimize your imminent losses, since it is only a matter of time that your money starts oozing out of your pocket.
After playing about million hands, computer simulation has shown that by hitting your 17 against these dealer’s upcards, you curtail your losses by 8 percent, meaning you are in advantage of 8 percent. This uncustomary move of yours may stagger your fellow players, but of course you know better!
