Online Blackjack News - Blackjack - the truth behind the “bust” myth
Blackjack is a game full of misconceptions and myths. One of those is the belief that a player is busted once the dealer is showing either 4, 5 or 6 up. However, the truth is that a dealer never has a bust card up.
The odds for the dealer’s break, when showing a 5 or a 6 are 42%. When showing a 4, there is 40 % of chance he’ll break. Further down the things only deteriorate. It is also reasonable to stand with 16 most of the time, while facing the 10 up. Still, a player is nearly doomed with this hand and is destined to loose it about seven times out of nine, regardless the technique applied. Taking it into consideration, it might be a good idea, to take upon a surrender option, provided that a casino allows for it which comes down to giving away half the bet made.
The final advice is to always remember that even if you diligently play every single hand correctly, you still will crash on the additional bet for every 200 hands you play. The only way to bypass it is by resorting the card counting technique.
