Online Blackjack News - A jammed blackjack table or a desolate one?
For some reason crowded blackjack tables are much more popular than empty ones. While there is no apparent reason for such conduct, people do seem to prefer squeezing into the jammed blackjack tables elbowing their fellow players, instead of approaching the desolate blackjack table with a sad dealer by its side.
What is the mechanism that drives people to behave this way? Perhaps it has something to do with the winning chances? The number of players contending against the dealer does not seem to have any impact on the winning chances. The averaged blackjack player has the same chances to succeed whether he plays alone or with 7 more players. The chances to be dealt a good hand are virtually the same whether a player occupies a right wing or left wing seat. With seemingly unchangeable odds, there is however, more to this matter than meets the eye.
Still, in support for those who believe blackjack to be a number sensitive game, it must be mentioned that the speed of the game is determined by the number of participants. In a game where seven hands are involved, each player will get about 55 hands per hour and while playing alone against the dealer, a player will get as much as 230 hands within the same time lapse. Though it does not alter the winning odds, at an amassed tabled a player is destined to lose his money four times as fast as at a desolate table (one on one with the dealer). So, if a player needs some additional time for his money, there is indeed a rationale in choosing a table with more blackjack participants
