Online Blackjack News - Blackjack Basic Strategy is challenged

Blackjack players, more or less familiar with the game know that once they have two-card totals of 11, versus virtually any card except for the dealer’s ace, they better double down. This is one of the rudimentary strategies written in the ‘blackjack book’ wgich seemingly outweighs the alternative of hitting, in terms of the expected profits.
Against the obvious odds, some of the blackjack ardent worms discovered that the opposite move might actually be more advantageous having greater winning chances. The traditional ‘doubling’ does not allow a player to take additional cards when it might be precisely what is needed to gain the upper hand.
Would violation of Basic Strategy in less complicated instance be warranted? This however, is the decision any blackjack player would have to make by himself, relying mostly on his rationale and weighing the degree of the probability change and the sacrifice made in return.
