Online Blackjack News - Jones tries again for Chicago area casinos
|
|
President of the Senate Emil Jones plans to push once again the proposal for blackjack and table games as well as slot machines in Chicago, Waukegan and the south suburbs. Jones intends to push the initiative out of a Senate committee and move on to the next step in negotiation.
Jones tried last year to pass a proposal but he had no success doing so. This year’s proposal includes a plan for a city-owned casino and a pledge to set aside part of the $1 billion in revenue for educational programs in early childhood.
Even if Jones gets enough Republicans to support him in getting the proposal out of the Senate, he may encounter less support in the House, where democrats are reluctant to vote pro gambling without a clear approval from Gov. Blagojevich.
According to Jones’ aides the bill will certainly provide a good source of revenue.
